Project Background

Easily faked or confused CM species exist. To support further trading, R&D and applications of CM for clinical and industrial uses, HKJCICM with our technology partners at CUHK are at the forefront of using patented DNA and chemical technologies for authenticating Chinese Materia Medica (CMM) and differentiating them from related or easily confused or faked species.

Special Product Features / Technical Excellence

• An enriched toolbox for quality assessment of CMM using complementary molecular and chemical technologies
• 846 unique DNA sequences (ITS / 5S rRNA / trnL-F / psbA-trnH spacer/region) generated from 466 samples of 20 groups of CMM with 113 species (patents pending, US and PRC )
• Definitive means for authentication of CMM / their differentiation from related or easily confused or faked species

• 5 patents have been filed in US and PRC
