Hong Kong Economic and Trade Delegation Visiting Jilin
Creating Win-Win Situation for Business Development
At the invitation of Han Changfu, governor of Jilin Province, Frederick Lam, executive director of Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC), led the economic and trade delegation to join the “Jilin-Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange” in Jilin from 26 to 29 June 2007, exchanging ideas in respect of the future cooperation between the two regions. The delegation, comprising 47 members, was the largest delegation and at the highest level organized by TDC for visiting Jilin so far. Delegates were mainly businessmen from sectors like car accessories, Chinese medicine and food product, infrastructure and the services industry.
A Visit to Tonghua City
In the afternoon of 28 June, headed by Dr. Edmund Lee, executive director of Hong Kong Jockey Club Institute of Chinese Medicine (HKJCICM), the Chinese medicine and health product group of the delegation visited Tonghua City. Zhang Anshun, city mayor and Zhai Xianzhi, vice mayor warmly received their Hong Kong guests at Tonghua Guesthouse. Before the meeting, the municipal government held a special seminar to introduce the market conditions in Tonghua to the Hong Kong guests in detail. The leaders in the Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the Medical Office of the city and Dongchang District, Erdaojian District, Tonghua Economic Development Zone as well as senior management of enterprises like Tonghua Xiuzheng Pharmaceutical Group, Tonghua Dongbao Pharmaceutical Group also introduced their companies and history of developments with the Hong Kong guests.
Great Cooperation Potential between Hong Kong and Jilin
During the visit, the delegation participated in the seminar on Chinese medicine and health product industry in the Changchun – Hong Kong Industrial Cooperation Exchange. Besides, delegates from the Chinese medicine industry also visited Changchun New and High Technology Industrial Development Zone and enterprises including Tonghua Dongbao Pharmaceutical Group, Xiuzheng Pharmaceutical Group and Puhua Pharmaceutical Group. This economic and trade event has deepened the delegation’s knowledge in Jilin’s natural resources and industrial advantages. It is expected that cooperation between the two regions in respect of Chinese proprietary medicines and car accessories will be further strengthened.
