In advancing the development of Chinese medicine industry, we strive to attain international recognition. We set programme directions to steer development embracing standardization, technology and product development, safety appraisal and evidence-based clinical studies. R&D projects will amalgamate modern science and technology, Chinese medicine principles and quality systems, and will promote the development and adoption of scientifically robust research methodologies, quality control strategies and good quality practices.

Our strategic approach embraces the following:

(a) Advancement of Chinese medicine to broaden its knowledge base, enhance quality control and hence promote its rational use for health promotion, disease prevention, modulation or treatment;

(b) Development of safe, high quality and effective Chinese medicine to solve unmet medical needs, improve quality of life or use as an adjunct to modern medicine; and

(c) International collaboration and promotion of Chinese medicine through, for example, co-funding of R&D projects, dissemination of information supporting scientific and industry development, and commercialization of R&D outputs.
